“Meeting of Cultures: Romanian and Ukrainian Easter Traditions”, an AIDRom event where communities learn together

In this important period, when we are preparing for the most important and awaited religious holidays in the Orthodox calendar symbolizing rebirth and hope, AIDRom brings together Romanian and Ukrainian communities to learn from each other and celebrate these Easter holidays in an authentic way discovering Romanian and Ukrainian Palm Sunday and Easter Traditions united in a special event.

During the event that will take place on April 7, 2023, Romanian and Ukrainian priests will explain Romanian and Ukrainian Easter traditions and customs and give blessings for the activities in which Ukrainian refugee mothers and children, beneficiaries of projects financed by ACT Alliance, Brot für die Welt, and Kirchen Helfen Kirchen will participate. Mothers will dye eggs, and prepare dough for Paska and the traditional Ukrainian Easter cake, while the children of Ukrainian refugees will have the opportunity to explore Easter traditions and customs in an interactive and educational way. The event will conclude with an Easter egg hunt.

Since the beginning of the war, more than 3.5 million Ukrainians, mostly women and children, have entered Romania, of whom about 110,000 have settled here temporarily. AIDRom has been providing aid through run projects, since the beginning of the war, to more than 30,000 Ukrainian refugees in need of protection.
