Our colleague, Gabriel Cazacu, priest at the Cașin Monastery Church gave the interview of the day to DC News

Known as the “angel of children and adults”, our colleagueGabriel Cazacu, priest at the Cașin Monastery in Bucharest and coordinator of AIDRom’s Department for Inter-Christian and Inter-religious Relations, gave an interview today, 12 July 2023, to  DC News.

The dedication, care and passion with which she is “here to help” was captured by journalist Anca Murgoci in the material presenting the main ideas discussed with Bogdan Chirieac.

Here are some snippets:

“We are with and I am in sympathy with all those who have suffered these serious tragedies in these settlements. I am with their families, their carers.

I would also like to pay tribute to the serious social workers, who are not seen on TV, who do their duty every day, every night and who care in serious institutions for the elderly, the handicapped, children with severe problems and who with humility, faith and love help their neighbour and fulfil the commandments of God.

They can be volunteers, many of them. I work in some multidisciplinary volunteer teams and there are wonderful people from corporations who give 3, 4 hours of their time, weekly or daily, and enter this world. I didn’t say ”it descends” into this world, „enter” this world in this world and there are partakers of much good.”, said the priest Gabriel Cazacu.

Let’s get down among the people and like the ant in the story, try to put out the fire!

“This good is a phenomenon that starts with each one of us and I will ask you to allow me to tell you a little story.

It is said that in one city, a king had a prophet who every morning came to his window and prophesied the end of his kingdom, until..; one day the king, angry, gathered a great assembly of people, made a fire, and decided to throw this prophet into the fire.

Seeing how great was the flame into which this prophet was to be thrown, a worried ant in the city fills his mouth with water and goes and begins to shuttle between the fire and a spring. On the way from the spring to the fire, she meets her sisters who ask her: ”What are you doing here? Are you out of your mind? You want to put out the fire? How do you think with your little mouth you’ll be able to accumulate enough water to put out such an intense fire?”

And she says so: ”SMy dear ones, this fire will not only burn this prophet, it will burn the whole city because we will not be able to put it out. Come with me!”

My dear friends, this is what the Church says: “Come with us!”

Let us be those little ants who with our humble strength can put out this fire! This fire is now in an area near Bucharest, but it can be found in many other areas of our deep Romania, a beautiful Romania, a garden of the Mother of God in which each of us is called, not just to be spectators, to move the TV channels and watch where and what is best heard.

Let’s get down among the people and like the ant in this evocative little story, try to put out the fire!”, said priest Gabriel Cazacu to DC News.
