Walking through Galați: the Village Museum and the Zoo
On October 13, 2023, a group of 12 asylum seekers staying at the Galați Regional Center for Procedures and Accommodation of Asylum Seekers participated in a cultural excursion and a recreational activity. They were first received by the Galati Village Museum, an ethnocultural museum that presents four traditional households, a well with a wheel, a well with a drum and a well, a windmill and a smokehouse, as well as the collections of the patrimony which include objects of folk art, ceramics, fabrics, furniture, tools, and utensils. After discovering the beauty and diversity of the Romanian rural culture, the participants arrived at the Galati Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in Romania, established in 1952 and part of the “Răsvan Angheluță” Natural Science Museum Complex. The activities were carried out in collaboration with I.G.I. and with the “Save the Children” Organization, within the project “Assistance services for refugees from the Timișoara transit center and refugees from Ukraine in the Western region”, (Output 3), supported by UNHCR.
