4th capacity building course “The experience of WGSS in Palermo. The Ethnopsychological approach and the importance of the MHPSS approach”
“People make safe space safe” is the main idea reflected in today’s 14 November 2023 course included in the SAFE HUT training sessions. Participants, including our colleagues from AIDRom, engaged in an enlightening exploration of ”The experience of WGSS in Palermo. The Ethnopsychological approach and the importance of the MHPSS approach”.
The trainers, Maria Chiara Monti and Deborah Igiebor Sunday, shared from their experience how to provide psychological support to vulnerable people with a migratory background and they intorduced the audience to the concept of mental health and the role of the psychologist and to the principles of ethnopsychology.

A special moment was the sharing of a brave women who is now cultural mediator. Her narrative added a unique layer to our understanding, offering real-life insights into the WGSS challenges.
The Capacity Building is designed by IRC (Italy and Germany), CESIE (Italy) and Centro Penc (Italy) to provide training and to facilitate knowledge exchange for the Safe Space implementing partner organizations, including all Staff involved in the SAFE HUT Project. This project that aims at providing Safe Spaces for Women and Girls with a special focus on the needs of potential victims of trafficking, to be established in Greece (KMOP), Lithuania (KOPZI), Bulgaria (Animus) and Romania (AidRom).
