AIDRom team supports the Christmas Food Collection in Timișoara
Between December 13 and 15, 2024, the team of the project “Assistance to refugees at the Timișoara transit center and support for Ukrainian refugees” – UNHCR ROU-23141Y24M181571-0001 (Output 2), carried out by AIDRom with the support of UNHCR, participated as volunteers in the Christmas Food Collection organized by the Food Bank Timișoara. The activity took place at a collection point in a Kaufland store in Timișoara, where the AIDRom team contributed to the collection of non-perishable products intended for refugees under the organization’s assistance.
The first day of the campaign, December 13, benefited from the support of volunteers identified by the Food Bank, and in the following two days, the AIDRom team ensured constant presence in volunteer shifts. The generosity of the local community was impressive, with a significant number of food products being collected, which will be distributed to refugees in the coming period. Participation in the campaign strengthened the relationship between AIDRom, the Food Bank, and the local community, contributing to supporting those in vulnerable situations.
The Christmas Food Collection is part of the largest national solidarity campaign, organized annually by the Federation of Food Banks in Romania (FBAR) and regional banks in several cities, including Bucharest, Cluj, Brașov, and Timișoara. The campaign aims to support people in difficulty, reduce food waste, and promote social solidarity, becoming a moment of community awareness and mobilization.
Through its active involvement, AIDRom and the project team supported by UNHCR demonstrate their commitment to the mission of supporting refugees and contributing to their social inclusion. The volunteer activity within the Food Collection reflects solidarity and close partnership with local organizations and citizens, proving that gestures of support can have a real impact on the lives of those in need. We thank the Timisoara Food Bank for their valuable partnership and support. We are also grateful to all those who donated and the volunteers with us!
