Ukrainian Refugees Delighted by Concerts at the Romanian Athenaeum
On February 23, 2025, a group of 37 Ukrainian refugees had the opportunity to attend two remarkable concerts at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest. This event was made possible by the generosity of the “George Enescu” Philharmonic, which offered free tickets as part of the “Integration of Refugees from Ukraine into Romania” project, conducted by AIDRom with financial support from Brot für die Welt.
The first performance, titled “Let There Be Rhythm!”, took place at 11:00 AM and was presented by the Bucharest Percussion Ensemble. Artists Iulia Bitta, Ioana Ailenei, Alina Trifu, Vlad Polgar, Ștefan Ailenei, Vlad Macsimov, Mihai Mînzar, and Alexandru Stroe performed works by Steve Reich, Gene Koshinski, and Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic, captivating the audience with dynamic rhythms and impeccable synchronization.
In the evening, at 7:00 PM, the Athenaeum’s stage hosted a chamber recital dedicated to the complete sonatas for piano and violin by Johannes Brahms. The audience was enchanted by the profound and expressive interpretation of the musicians, who masterfully conveyed the complexity and beauty of Brahms’ compositions.
Attending these cultural events had a significant impact on the Ukrainian refugees, providing them with moments of relaxation and joy in a unique artistic environment. Such experiences contribute to their integration into Romanian society, facilitating interaction with local culture and promoting a sense of belonging.
Through its dedicated project, AIDRom continues to support refugees in the adaptation process by organizing various activities aimed at improving their quality of life and offering personal development opportunities. We thank the “George Enescu” Philharmonic for their generosity and openness, thus contributing to creating unforgettable memories for those far from home.
