The Project Humanitarian assistance for Refugees from Ukraine in Romania funded by Solidar Suisse
July 2022 – June 2023

The project ”Humanitarian unding with the help of Solidar Suisse, was implemented during July 2022 – June 2023. The main objective of Outcome 3, the one where AIDRom was responsible for the implementation, was to enhance the resilience in Romania for the most vulnerable refugees from Ukraine and specially to provide access to basic humanitarian assistance. During the project we managed to form a team who were responsible for carrying out the activities both in AIDRom headquarters in Bucharest and in the customs where the staff performed.
The idea of the project was based on the need of the Ukrainian citizens to receive immediate help at the borders. Most of the Ukrainians entering the country, especially after the first wave of refugees, are having extremely limited financial resources to sustain themselves and they needed emergency help to cover the basic: food, water, and medicines. This specific need was identified due to the activity that AIDRom staff did in the reception centers, but also in the customs, receiving information directly from the beneficiaries.
The covered areas were the customs in Isaccea and the ones with the Republic of Moldova (Sculeni, Radauti Prut and Stanca Costesti).
The official number are:
– Food emergency kits – 5.160 kits (one kit for one person).
– Hygiene materials and personal care items emergency kits – 2.120 kits (one kit for one person).
– – Nonprescription medicines emergency kits – 1.000 kits (one kit for one person).
Information work: aprox. 10.000 newly arrived refugees received information relevant to them about:
– the project activities,
– how to arrive in different parts of Romania,
– rights and obligations in our country,
– labor market possibilities, etc.
