Action for integration of vulnerable migrants in Romania
Period of implementation: January – December 2024;
Implementing organization: AIDRom – The Ecumenical Association of Churches in Romania;
Supporting organization: Diakonie Wurttemberg, IOM – International Organization for Migration.
The general objective of the project is to support the socio-economic, and legal integration of Ukrainian refugees in Romanian society both in the medium and long term, through an integrated and complex approach by providing the information and specialized services they need and respectively strengthening the collaboration and active involvement of local authorities and communities in supporting integration.
The project response action will focus on identifying need-response promptly, focusing on facilitating integration and minimizing the risk of social exclusion of vulnerable refugee women.
Through the project, we envisage supporting the beneficiaries of international protection and third-country nationals to start an independent life in Romanian society through a complex skills life program.
Within this project, local support networks will be created with the main actors that contribute to the integration of the vulnerable target group: county employment agencies, county school inspectorates, local authorities, prefecture, civil society, public authorities, NGOs, and institutions.
The main activity of the Multifunctional Centers from Iasi and Galati will focus on individual and group counseling. The centers will be financialy suported by IOM. The social counseling and information will take place throughout the project implementation and will consist of informing the direct beneficiaries of the existing project facilities and services, access to basic social services, and any other social needs of individual or group beneficiaries identified by the social workers as planned intervention, etc.
Mediation with authorities to meet the needs of the beneficiaries will be at the core of the activities.
According to the needs of the persons seeking counseling, the centers can provide:
- Legal counselling
- Social counselling
- Psychological counselling
- Mediation for identifying jobs in Romania
- Mediation between the beneficiaries and the local authorities for different issues.
- Vocational training for women and single mothers with the workshops organized in the Multifunctional Center from Bucharest.
The social inclusion of the Ukrainian refugees in the Bucharest area will be done through a pilot program, namely the development of a community center for vulnerable people, within the Multifunctional Counseling Center for people at high risk in Bucharest.
