Assistance and services offered to refugees at the Emergency Transit Center in Timișoara
More than 400 refugees benefit through this project, throughout the entire year 2022, from an integrated system of assistance and services at the Emergency Transit Center in Timișoara. Our objective is to reduce the risk of discrimination and social marginalization of refugees, to provide them with decent daily living conditions, and to facilitate their transition to a safe life. We have mobilized a multidisciplinary team that provides refugees with a safe living environment, accommodation, and adequate medical care, including psycho-social assistance and support until their resettlement in a third country. In addition, we provide refugees with access to quality formal and non-formal education, adapted to their needs, interests, and prior education. We pay special attention to people with special needs and strictly follow the rules regarding the prevention of infection with COVID-19. The project is carried out in full accordance with the global strategic objective of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, “achieving durable solutions”, with priority on the promotion and application of resettlement as an effective protection tool, durable solution, and responsibility-sharing mechanism.
