With a duration of one calendar year (01.11.2023 – 31.10.2024), the “ELCA response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis from Romania” project is aligned with the global action directions of the ELCA and the Interfaith Call to Peace for Ukraine, initiated by ELCA and signed by 12 representatives of churches and denominations from the United States and Canada at the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with more than 3.3 million members in more than 8,900 worshiping communities across the 50 states and the Caribbean region. Known as the church of “God’s work. Our hands.,” the ELCA emphasizes God’s saving grace through faith in Jesus Christ, Christian unity, and service in the world. The ELCA’s roots are in the writings of the German church reformer Martin Luther.
