Women Empowerment – Integration of the refugee women on the labor market through vocational courses
The project, implemented between August 2021 and August 2022, aimed to support and empower 20 migrant women in finding their own role in the community through a creative integration plan, such as Romanian language lessons, identification of women’s integration capabilities, identifying the specific skills of the workplace, challenging oppressive and discriminatory actions and attitudes, enrolling in professional courses.
Following the assessment of needs and the preparation of activities in August 2020, the project started by organizing a preparatory meeting in Iași, followed by the establishment of strategic partnerships between key local actors to facilitate the integration of beneficiaries.
Within this program, AIDRom provided, at its offices in Iași and Bucharest, individual and group counseling sessions for high-risk groups and social-vocational guidance. Special attention was given to young women from third countries (Republic of Moldova and Ukraine), looking for a job in Romania, who already knew the Romanian language.
Special programs have been designed to match the profile of unemployed young women and girls at-risk, seeking employment. As part of the program, AIDRom managed files for 20 women and provided Romanian language and work skills development classes. At the same time, meetings were organized with local institutions to identify potential vocational courses and potential jobs, and vocational schools were identified for 20 women (refugees, and third-country nationals). Labor mediation was also carried out through meetings with regional recruitment agencies, the Romanian Employers’ Association, and the Romanian Employers’ Network..
