The general objective of the project:

The general objective of the project is to improve the situation of asylum seekers from Romania by promoting a system of complementary social and material assistance and specialized services in order to increase their standard of living in our country.
The “A.C.A.S.A. – Complex Social Assistance for Asylum Seekers” project aims to provide specific services for asylum seekers from Romania, by providing information and advice on legal rights and obligations regarding: the labor market, the educational system, the insurance system social, etc., social and legal counseling to help them solve the problems they face, access available public services, facilitate social integration through socio-cultural, educational and recreational activities and by providing Romanian language courses, as well as material assistance.

Also, 2 accommodation spaces for vulnerable people will be made available to asylum seekers, in the 2 AIDRom Accommodation Centers (Bucharest and Timișoara), as an alternative to accommodation in the spaces offered by CRCPSA in the country.

Asylum seekers will participate in activities of accommodation in Romanian society, educational and recreational activities, and courses to learn the Romanian language and will benefit from accessing the educational system.

By providing specific assistance to asylum seekers, we aim to integrate the beneficiaries into the host society.

Starting from the vast experience of the two partner organizations, the project aims to address the following main areas of action:

  1. To provide counseling and social and legal assistance (other than those related to the asylum procedure). In this sense, the project aims to achieve its objectives by offering assistance, counseling, and complementary facilities to asylum seekers. They will be informed about the set of socio-economic rights and legal obligations (other than those related to the asylum procedure) that they have; effective material assistance in order to improve the living standards of asylum seekers, Romanian language courses for minors and adults as well as a series of cultural and recreational activities, the development of professional skills, in order to accommodate asylum seekers to the characteristics of Romanian society.
  2. To ensure accommodation spaces for beneficiaries belonging to vulnerable cases. In this sense, the Bucharest and Timișoara Accommodation Centers will continue to operate, where the categories of asylum seekers belonging to vulnerable groups will benefit from accommodation and assistance, information and counseling services, in particular: women, single-parent families, families with children, people with disabilities, elderly people, victims of human trafficking, people subjected to torture, rape or other serious forms of physical, psychological or sexual violence, and other people in special situations, to supplement the number of accommodation places in the related regions. The period of accommodation in the two centers of the identified beneficiaries will be a maximum of 6 months.
  3. To provide effective material assistance to asylum seekers in order to improve their reception conditions and living standards. Specifically, special emphasis will be placed on the assistance and facilities granted to SA belonging to vulnerable categories.
  4. To provide educational services, cultural accommodation events, and recreational activities, as well as Romanian language courses for minors and adults.

In granting the facilities within the framework of the project for asylum seekers from Romania, the recommendations received in this regard from the integration officers within the Centers for Accommodation and Procedures for Asylum Seekers will be taken into account, and the activities will be carried out in close collaboration with General Inspectorate for Immigration.
