“Against exploitative labour: Fighting new trends, Understanding new elements and developing new responses and partnerships”
The project“Against exploitative labour: Fighting new trends, Understanding new elements and developing new responses and partnerships” was implemented by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), Equality Department, between September 2012 and August 2015.
The project is financed by the European Commission through the found ISEC 2011 (HOME/2011/ISEC/AG/THB), HOME/2011/ISEC/AG/THB/4000002208.
Project activities were implemented in partnership with Anti-Slavery International and CCME and with a number of national partners in Austria (Lefö), Czech Republic (La Strada), Finland (Service Union United PAM), Ireland (Migrants Rights Centre Ireland), Lithuania (Caritas) and Spain (Unión General de Trabajadores UGT).
The project“Against exploitative labour: Fighting new trends, Understanding new elements and developing new responses and partnerships” aims to strengthen cooperation between trade unions, non-governmental organizations, faith-based organizations and other national partners to reduce forced labour trafficking in a number of key EU countries.
Increased attention has been paid to new trends in trafficking – such as the gender dimension of labour trafficking, increasingly severe exploitation of groups of migrant workers and new methods of recruiting trafficked labour through the use of the Internet and other online platforms.
The project aims to expand national partnerships in each of the participating countries; share knowledge through EU labour trafficking forums and thematic working papers (gender, group cases, recruitment) and develop partnerships with existing European and international networks.
