INTEGRATION OF REFUGEES FROM UKRAINE IN ROMANIA

 

AIDRom – the Ecumenical Association of Churches in Romania, with the support of KHK (Kirchen Helfen Kirchen), is running a new stage of the project “Integration of refugees from Ukraine to Romania”, through which it will help vulnerable migrants, especially from Ukraine, to integrate better in Romania.

This new stage runs from September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2025 and aims to help vulnerable refugees who crossed the border with Romania in the context of the war that broke out in Ukraine.

The general objective of the project is to integrate refugees into the Romanian community, to ensure the basic needs of those affected by the crisis in Ukraine.

Also, the aim of the project is to support the socio-economic and cultural inclusion of Ukrainian refugees, asylum seekers and refugees from third countries fleeing Ukraine, in Romanian society, both in the medium and long term, through an integrated system and through a complex approach.

Migrants who are part of the project’s target group will benefit from information on aspects of daily life, psychological counseling, and will participate in Romanian language courses and other educational, cultural, recreational and socialization activities that contribute to the integration their socio-cultural.

Information sessions, individual and group, are organized throughout the duration of the project, depending on the needs identified, with the support of local communities and educational institutions.

The psychological counseling within the project will address the losses, separations and trauma suffered by refugees, the processes of adaptation to a new lifestyle, integration and adaptation in society.

The project also proposes the provision of effective material assistance, in the form of social vouchers for the most vulnerable categories, as well as covering the costs of document translation, within the limits of the project’s resources.

The legal advisers will provide assistance to the beneficiaries regarding the conclusion of legal documents (lease contracts, employment contracts, etc.) and will carry out activities to support and guide the beneficiaries in their relationship with public and private institutions in a legal context.

The project also proposes the provision of effective material assistance in the form of monthly financial incentives for participants in Romanian language courses and vocational courses, within the available occupancy, emergency packages, supplies packages, and teaching materials, settlement of medical services, medicines, and medical materials, analyzes, of the costs of document translations, as available within the project.
