“Steps to the Future” – UMCOR’s Response for Ukrainian Refugees in Romania

AIDRom – the Ecumenical Association of Churches in Romania is implementing the project “Steps to the Future” – UMCOR’s Response for Ukrainian Refugees in Romania. This initiative targets individuals affected by the conflict in Ukraine and is funded by UMCOR – the United Methodist Committee on Relief. The project has a duration of 12 months.
The primary objective of the project is to provide emergency humanitarian assistance and integration services to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine who are currently residing in Romania.
The target group includes individuals impacted by the conflict, with a particular focus on vulnerable categories. Through the project, 4,000 vulnerable individuals will receive material support in the form of vouchers that can be used to purchase food, hygiene products, and medication.
Additionally, specialized services will be provided, including social and legal counseling, as well as support for integration into Romanian society. This includes guidance and assistance for accessing the labor market, enrolling in the national education system, and participating in cultural orientation courses.
Moreover, 400 individuals will have the opportunity to attend Romanian language courses, while over 600 individuals will benefit from cultural, recreational, and artistic activities designed to facilitate the integration process and improve the psychological well-being of the beneficiaries.

Additionally, UMCOR supports migrants through legal and humanitarian support, as well as through global advocacy.
